Grammy Award winning hometown hero Billy Dean plays storyteller set at Fire Betty’s – Tallahassee FL
Friday night Fire Betty’s was quickly filled to the bream after doors opened, with country music fans filling the church pew seating and standing areas in the listening room. As the lights went down, Jason Byrd a long time Tallahassee area first responder turned singer/songwriter for legends such as George Jones took the stage. Byrd played a full and exciting set that would make any true country music fan blush. Of course, what would a storyteller night be without some great stories, between being a firefighter and having spent time on the road with legends such as George Jones and Billy Dean you can bet Jason Byrd had some great ones! All and all one of the most refreshing and enjoyable country shows this writer has attended.
It wasn’t long after Jason Byrd departed the stage that we were joined by Gadsden county Florida’s own, Billy Dean. Billy Dean is a Grammy Award winning country artist with a plethora of chart topping hits, and he made sure every fan in the room got to hear their favorite one. With a set list ranging from classic fan favorites like “Somewhere in my broken heart” and “Billy The Kid” to hometown anthem “Gadsden County Line” Billy Dean made sure no fan went home unhappy. Mr. Dean’s set also featured guest appearances from a wide range of singer/songwriter friends playing everything from covers of classic country hits to Christmas favorites and even some unreleased material.
I’d also like to add that the venue was exceptional for this event. Fire Betty’s has created a lovely and intimate atmosphere for these story teller style shows. Thank you to their staff as well, they were exceptionally courteous and professional before, during and after the show.
